Sumilon Bluewater Island Resort

“The waves of the sea

Help me get back to me.”

A Day at Sumilon Bluewater Beach Resort was really one of my unforgettable experiences. Imagine? It's all free and all I have to do is to enjoy! I was with 35 cebu bloggers mainly the members of CBS. Thanks to Sir Ruben of Pinoyworld for this event and Sumilon Bluewater’s Resident Manager,Greg Perral. We were all treated like VIP's, from the city to the island and vice versa.Surely all of us will enjoy the hospitality of the employees there.

Sumilon Bluewater Island Resort is located on tranquil Sumilon Island. The Island remains as one of Cebu's best kept secrets and is found on the southeastern tip of the mainland. It is 125 kilometers from Cebu City and is in close proximity to Dumaguete. The island has an area of 24 hectares and is surrounded by crystal clear waters with varying aquamarine hues. Sumilon Bluewater Beach resort is owned and managed by Almont Holdings Incorporated (AHI) and is the sister resort of Maribago Bluewater Beach Resort. At Maribago Bluewater Cebu, presented with the prestigious Kalakbay "Resort of the Year" award in 1993, the Resort Condominiums International, Inc. (RCI), "Resort of International Distinction" in 1994 and the RCI "Gold Crown Award" in both 1995 and 1996.

All are set to go to sumilon. At SM, we waited for others to come, enjoyed chit chatting and picture taking. It took us almost 3 hours and a half to go to the island.

The calmness surrounding tiny Sumilon (meaning the "refuge") is a graceful invitation to open air seclusion. The island's breathtaking views and lots of recreations like snorkeling, scuba diving, paddle boating, evening dinner, romantic beach picnic and many more gives us the space and peace to unwind. It was my first time to experience kayaking and snorkeling and really felt like I was in my childhood years. The white sand beaches where we enjoyed playing the waves and experienced something(sandstorm) all of us won't forget. Hahahaha! Don't you ever challenge Mother Earth or else. *evil laugh.

Sumilon Bluewater Island Resort is the only hotel on beautiful Sumilon Island and is ideal for an undisturbed and relaxing getaway. Accomodations at the resort are spacious. Makes all of us relax and enjoy the ambiance. There are also natural caves where fishermen used to seek protection and crystal clear waters changeable aquamarine hues which is a protected area and was made a fish sanctuary in 1974 under the guidance of Siliman University Marine Reserve. During dives, one will find varied marine species and even occasional sightings of black trip sharks.

Our Sumptuous food offerings were provided by our in-house island kitchen managed by Chef de Partie Buddy Amodia. The food was great specially the carbonara and french fries(favorite!). It made my tummy so big!

We've been there for only a day but blessed we were because we have given the oppurtunity to experience a place somewhat like heaven.

“Thank God for the food and for the hands that prepared it and also for the ocean.
--Bode Dykens
